Your Knee Isn’t the Problem.
It’s Paying the Price.
Most knee pain isn’t caused by the knee itself. It’s caused by the muscles
above and below it. The glutes, hip stabilizers, and calf complex, failing
to do their job and forcing the knee joint to absorb load it was never designed
to handle alone. One80 Physical Therapy finds exactly which muscles have been
shut down and restores them. The knee stops being the scapegoat. The pain resolves.
What’s causing your knee pain?
Find your condition below. Each one shares the same root cause,
a failure in the muscular system controlling the knee, but shows up
differently. We find exactly where the breakdown is and we fix it.
General Knee Pain
If your knee pain keeps coming back — or never fully goes away — it’s not bad
luck. It’s a pattern. The knee is a hinge joint. It’s designed to flex and extend.
What it’s not designed to do is absorb rotational forces and lateral stress when
the glutes, hip abductors, and calf complex aren’t doing their jobs.
At One80, we check the entire kinetic chain — not just the knee. We find which
muscles have been shut off, restore them, and most patients feel a real change
before they leave their first session.
ACL Injury & Rehab
ACL injuries are neurophysiological events, not just structural ones. The ligament
is packed with nerve endings that tell your brain where the knee is in space.
When it tears — or is reconstructed — that sensory system goes offline.
The graft restores mechanical stability. It does not restore the neuromuscular
control that the original ligament was managing.
Standard ACL rehab follows a calendar. One80 follows neuromuscular readiness.
Athletes return to sport when their movement patterns — not just their strength
numbers — match or exceed their pre-injury baseline. That’s why they stay there.
Knee Arthritis
A worn knee on an X-ray doesn’t have to mean a painful knee. Studies consistently
show that the degree of cartilage loss on imaging correlates poorly with pain levels.
What determines pain is how the joint is being loaded — and that’s determined
by the muscles around it.
When glutes and VMO are inhibited, the knee compresses unevenly — grinding the
joint in the direction of least cartilage. Restore the muscular support,
redistribute the load, and the pain changes. Regardless of what the X-ray shows.
Knee Replacement Rehab
The surgery replaces the joint. It doesn’t fix arthrogenic muscle inhibition —
the nervous system’s automatic shutdown of the muscles surrounding a traumatized
joint. You can do quad sets all day and not overcome inhibition that’s being
driven neurologically. That’s why so many people finish post-op PT and still
don’t feel fully right.
One80 begins with neuromuscular assessment — not strength testing. We restore
neural drive to the inhibited muscles first. Once activation is restored,
progressive loading actually builds strength instead of fighting inhibition.
✓ Start as early as 1–2 weeks post-op
✓ Works within surgeon’s protocol
✓ Helps even 1–2 years post-surgery
